Registering a trademark just got a little bit cheaper

For those who are looking to protect their game, company or brand name, things just got about $50 easier.

Lowered costs for certain trademark applications:

On January 17, the fees for a certain type of US trademark registration were reduced. This type is called a TEAS Plus application, which has certain specific requirements. These include:

  • Everything must be filed through the USPTO’s online portal
  • The fee must be paid up front
  • The identification of the class of goods has to be right out of the USPTO’s classification manual
  • Some other small requirements dealing with translations and transliterations of foreign words and characters

Overall, this is a great step toward making trademark registration and protection more available for entrepreneurs.

What does this mean for me?

For my clients, if they are eligible for the TEAS Plus application, the rate for my trademark registration services will be reduced accordingly by $50. To get more information on these services and whether your trademark would be eligible, feel free to contact me to set up a free consultation.
