Please read this privacy notice carefully, as it contains important information on who we are, how and why I collect, store, use, and share personal information. It also describes your rights in relation to your personal information and on how to contact me and supervisory authorities if there’s a dispute.

1. Who I am

Zachary Strebeck, Attorney at Law collects, uses and is responsible for certain personal information about you, as part of the www.strebecklaw.com website (the “Service”).

For those in the European Union, I am regulated under the General Data Protection Regulation which applies across the European Union (including in the United Kingdom) and I am responsible as controller of that personal information for the purposes of those laws.

2. The Personal Information I collect and use

Information collected by me: We collect the following personal information either automatically or when you voluntarily provide it to me:

• Your name and email address are collected when you contact me about legal services or anything else, or sign up for my newsletter or other marketing communications (your “Contact Information”). The legal basis for collecting this information is to fulfill a contract with you, under GDPR Art. 6 (1) (b).
• Your comments and other public postings made on the Service (your “Posts”). The legal basis for collecting these Posts is to fulfill a contract with you, under GDPR Art. 6 (1) (b).

Information shared with me by others: If you use the calendar scheduling tool on the Service provided by Zoom, they will share certain personal information that you enter into the Zoom service with me. You can view their privacy policy here.

I also use Google Analytics on the Service, which tracks website usage anonymously and shares that anonymous, aggregated data with me. You can view their privacy policy here, or visit this site for opt-out options to this kind of tracking.

How I use your Personal Information: I use your personal information as follows:

• Providing Services: I use your Contact Information to communicate with you and, if you retain me as your lawyer, to provide you with legal services.
• Communications: I use your Contact Information to send newsletters and other marketing communications to you.
• Posts: Your Posts are publicly displayed on the Service to communicate with me and other Service users about the blog posts and other Service content.

Who I share your Personal Information with: In operating the Service, I may share certain personal information with others:

• Communications: I use ActiveCampaign to collect Contact Information for the purposes of sending newsletters and other marketing communications to you. You can view their privacy policy here.
• Other Sharing: I will share your personal information if I have a good faith belief that (i) access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, such as a court order or subpoena, or a request by law enforcement or governmental authorities, (ii) it is necessary to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues associated with the Service, or (iii) it is appropriate to protect my rights, property, or safety, or that of my employees, clients, or users of the Service.

I will not share your personal information with any other third party.

How long your Personal Information will be kept: I will keep your personal information for the length of time required to provide you with the Service, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Afterwards, I will delete all personal information in my possession within a reasonable timeframe. I do not verify the correctness of personal data that I collect or you provide.

Please note that some data may be retained if necessary to resolve disputes, enforce my agreements, and comply with technical and legal requirements and constraints related to the security, integrity, and operation of the Service, or where required by legal ethics rules.

Children’s Privacy: I do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.

Remarketing: The Service uses remarketing services to advertise on third party websites to previous visitors to our Service. This means that we may advertise to previous visitors who haven’t completed a task on the Service. For example, using the contact form but not completing the contact process. 

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and tracking pixels to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to the Service. Of course, any data collected will be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy and that third-party vendor’s privacy policy.

You may use the Digital Advertising Alliance or Network Advertising Initiative’s tools to opt out of interest-based advertising by participating companies, as well as tools specific to the advertising vendor. 

Also, refer to your browser or device’s help material to learn what controls you can use to remove or block cookies or other similar technologies, or block or remove other data stored on your computer or device.

3. Transfer of your Information out of the EEA

My business is based in the United States. No matter where you are located, you consent to the processing, transfer, and storage of your information in and to the United States, in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the privacy policies of third parties with whom I share your personal information. The laws of the U.S. and other countries governing data collection and use may not be as comprehensive or protective as the laws of the country where you live.

4. EU Residents – Your Rights

Under the laws of some jurisdictions, including the General Data Protection Regulation in the EEA, you have a number of important rights with regard to your personal information.

• By law, you can ask me what information I hold about you, and you can ask me to correct it if it is inaccurate. If I have asked for your consent to process your personal data, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
• If I am processing your personal data for reasons of consent or to fulfil a contract, you can ask me to give you a copy of the information in a machine-readable format so that you can transfer it to another provider.
• If I am processing your personal data for reasons of consent or legitimate interest, you can request that your data be erased.
• You have the right to ask me to stop using your information for a period of time, if you believe I am not doing so lawfully.
• Finally, in some circumstances, you can ask me not to reach decisions affecting you using automated processing or profiling.

5. Resolving Disputes

If you are an EU citizen, the General Data Protection Regulation also gives you right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the European Union (or European Economic Area) state where you work, normally live, or where any alleged infringement of data protection laws occurred.

6. Changes to this Privacy Notice

This privacy notice was last updated on March 10, 2020

I may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. When I do, I will inform you via the Contact Information you have provided me, or by posting a message about the change on the Service.
