I just wanted to write up a quick post to let everyone know that I’m back from vacation and ready to get some great stuff posted next week!
Twitch.tv’s new copyright policy:
First of all is the news coming out about Twitch.tv instituting a ContentID-like feature that will automatically mute audio that it deems in violation of copyright. I will be writing up that story and the legal implications and issues that go along with it early next week.
New eBook coming – Understanding Fair Use:
Related to that, I am in the process of compiling and writing material for a Fair Use eBook aimed at Let’s Play creators and game developers. I hope that, through this eBook, everyone can get a good overview of Fair Use doctrine and how it might apply in the various situations that game streamers and creators find themselves dealing with. Sign up for my mailing list above or below in order to be the first to get this new book when it’s ready!
YogsCast Kickstarter lessons – what can we learn from their mistakes?
I’ve also got a post in the works about some of the lessons that can be learned from the failure of the Yogventures! Kickstarter project. Look forward to that one later next week.
In the meantime, if you are kicking off your own Kickstarter campaign or starting development on a new project, contact a game lawyer for a free consultation. Also, check out my free gamedev legal eBook, “The 5 Legal Moves Every Game Developer Should Make,” by signing up here or on the Amazon Kindle store for just $2.99.
